The Transition Home: Fact or Fiction?
This session will address the stereotypes about Vietnam veterans created by the media, Hollywood and fictional stories about the war. A comparison to the actual positive transition to civilian life made by most Vietnam veterans will be made using comparative statistical data and real-life examples. Veterans and their contributions to society, history and the nation's healing will also be discussed. Presenter: Manuel R. Román Jr., Ed.D. Dr. Román teaches at Chapman University (Modesto, Calif.) and is a member of the Teach Vietnam Teachers Network.
