 The webcast of Memorial Day ceremonies at the Vietnam Memorial will include a special tribute by Tell America to honor merchant mariners who served America during the Vietnam War.

to Take Part

On the 25th anniversary of The Wall, thousands of veterans, families and friends from around the country will come to Washington, D.C. for the annual Memorial Day Observance at The Wall. The annual Memorial Day ceremony is hosted yearly by the Memorial Fund and the National Park Service to pay tribute to members of America’s armed forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam and in all conflicts.
 
Veterans of the “Hill Fights” of Khe Sanh, Vietnam, who are marking their 40th anniversary this year, will open the ceremony with a short procession.  Walt Sides, president of Rolling Thunder® Motorcycle Rally, Washington, D.C., Inc will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
Gen. Barry McCaffrey, USA (Ret.), will be the master of ceremonies. Speakers will include: John Rowan, the national president of the Vietnam Veterans of America; Maj. Gen. Gale S. Pollack, deputy surgeon general and chief of the Army Nurse Corps; Diane Carlson Evans, founder and president of the Vietnam Womens Memorial Foundation, and Joseph M. Lawler, regional director, National Capital Region, National Park Service
Many other veterans groups, including VFW, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), The American Legion, Gold Star Wives, American Gold Star Mothers, Sons and Daughters in Touch, Jewish War Veterans and Paralyzed Veterans of America, will participate in the Memorial Day events during the wreath laying at the end of the ceremony.  Former Army Ranger, actor and country singer Keni Thomas will sing his new song, “Last Band of Brothers,” during the Memorial Day Ceremony. Thomas will also entertain the audience before the ceremony with songs from his newest CD, “Flags of our Fathers—A Soldier’s Story,”
The names of three servicemen recently added to The Wall will be read by Ann Pruett of Sherman, Texas, the wife of Army Sgt. Richard Monroe Pruett. The names added to The Wall are:

Navy Fireman Apprentice Joseph Gerald Krywicki, Holton, Mich., (15E, Line 26);
Army Sgt. Richard Monroe Pruett, San Diego, Calif., (21W, Line 38); and
Army SP4 Wesley Alvin Stiverson, Monticello, Ill., (7W, Line 73).
