BRANSON, Mo. -- A free concert, kickoff ‘Rally’ and press conference will be held for Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 3 p.m. at Branson Showcase Theatre at the Branson Mall on Hwy.76 (next to Wal-Mart) to ‘Rally America’ in support of America’s troops.
During the event, that is open to the public, a new non-profit group, S.T.A.N.D. For The Troops, will be introduced along with it’s first fund-raising project, a newly released CD, recorded by the cast and band of #1 Hits Of The 60’s. Funds raised from the sale of the CD will be given to four non-profit military and veterans’ assistance organizations, one of which is a cause supported by Cher, Operation-Helmet; another supported by Tony Orlando, Branson Veterans Task Force; another by the National Association of Broadcasters, Armed Forces Relief Trust; and the fourth is the only national Vietnam veterans organization congressionally chartered, Vietnam Veterans of America. One hundred percent of the profits from the sale of the CD will be split equally between the four organizations, according to S.T.A.N.D. For The Troops founders Terry Wayne, Nita Tate and Brian Zerbe.
The CD features “We Gotta Get Out Of This Place” and “God Bless America.” “It doesn’t matter if you are for, or against the war,” said Terry Wayne, owner and producer of the #1 Hits Of The 60’s show in Branson, “you must be FOR our troops at all times. S.T.A.N.D. is an acronym for Sixties Then And Now Delegation, a fitting title for the new movement, considering the main focus of our show is the music and events of the 1960’s,” said Wayne. “As we pay tribute to Vietnam veterans during our show performances, we are reminded nightly of the price of freedom - a price that is paid in a time of war and peace.”
“Everyone is encouraged to attend this free concert and rally to show their support for our troops and to learn more about S.T.A.N.D. For The Troops and this CD which is the beginning of a series we have developed,” said Wayne.
The CD will be available online at www.standforthetroops.org for $5 + shipping, with retail outlets to be added.
