FOLLOW-UP ON ELECTRONIC PRESCRIBING
The State Alliance members will continue their discussions from their February 2008 meeting on ways that state policymakers can help facilitate electronic prescribing. NGA staff will share findings on research requested by the State Alliance. SureScripts and RxHub representatives also will share information on pharmacy and network readiness to support electronic prescribing. Governor Jim Douglas will lead the discussion.

PRESENTATION OF FINANCING, ACCOUNTABILITY, SUSTAINABILITY AND OVERSIGHT MODELS INITIAL FINDINGS
The University of Massachusetts Medical School Center for Health Policy and Research was commissioned by the State Alliance and NGA to examine financing, accountability, and oversight models to sustain electronic health information exchange. The researchers will present to the State Alliance members preliminary findings and obtain guidance from the members as to additional questions or areas for examination.

PRESENTATION OF PUBLIC PROGRAMS IMPLEMENTATION TASKFORCE RECOMMENDATIONS
The Public Programs Implementation Taskforce representative will provide an update of the Taskforce’s deliberations and recommendations on ways that publicly-funded health programs can promote health information technology adoption.

UPDATE ON AHIC 2.0 ACTIVITIES
The American Health Information Community (AHIC) is a federal advisory body established in 2005 by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. AHIC makes recommendations to the HHS Secretary on ways to accelerate the development and adoption of health information technology. It is currently undergoing a transition as a public-private partnership based in the private sector by Fall of 2008. LMI, teaming with the Brookings Institution, received a contract from the Office of the National Coordinator for HIT to design and establish the AHIC successor (AHIC 2.0). Members will hear from LMI and ONC on the transition progress.

HEALTH IT NOW! COALITION PRESENTATION
Health IT Now! is a coalition composed of private sector members who have come together to promote the rapid deployment of health information technology. Members will learn about the efforts of Health IT Now! to engage the private sector community and other stakeholders on ways to promote HIT.

NEXT STEPS DISCUSSION
State Alliance members will continue priority setting and re-visit their discussions from previous meetings about moving toward implementation of adopted recommendations. Members also will discuss preparation for their August 6, 2008 meeting. Governor Jim Douglas will lead this discussion.
