The National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) generates, disseminates, and promotes use of knowledge that will improve the ability of individuals with disabilities to perform activities in the community, including the pursuit of employment, and increase the capacity of society to provide full opportunities and supports for participation. NIDRR is located within the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) at the U.S. Department of Education (Department).

NIDRR is currently updating its Long-Range Plan for Fiscal Years 2005-2009 which can be accessed here. The new Plan will cover fiscal years 2010-2014. The draft of the Long-Range Plan will be published in the Federal Register by October 1, 2008.

To begin writing its new Plan, NIDRR is reaching out to the public to solicit input. NIDRR is particularly interested in suggestions for research priorities that are consistent with its mission.

The meeting will allow for input from several sites nationwide, the webcast, and the phones. Sites have been given specific time slots. As we transition from site to site, we will hear input from the phone participants and read input from webcast participants. People will be heard on a first come first serve basis and will be allowed approximately one to two minutes. NIDRR will only be accepting input and will be unable to answer questions or provide feedback.
