Steve
is the Senior Director - Internal Audit (Chief Auditor) for
Continental Airlines in Houston, Texas, a position he has
held since June 1989. Previously, he served as head of the
Internal Audit function at Eastern Airlines in Miami, Florida.
Steve
is the nominee for Vice Chairman of the Board - Professional
Services and a member of the Executive Committee for The Institute
of Internal Auditors, Inc. (IIA) for its organizational year
2003-2004. Steve currently serves as the Southern Regional
Representative and member of the Board of Directors of The
IIA. He is a past President of the Houston Chapter of The
IIA, and a current or past member of The IIA's Professional
Conferences Committee (PCC), International Conference Committee
(ICC), North American Committee (NAC), North American Advisory
Committee (NAAC), and the North American representative to
the Global Advisory Committee (GAC).
Steve
holds, or has held, several industry audit posts including
Chairman of the International Association of Airline Internal
Auditors (IAAIA) in 1996; Chairman of the Air Transport Association
of America (ATA) Audit Panel in 1995 and served on the Executive
Committee of the IAAIA from 1992 - 2000.
Steve
also serves on the University of Texas at Austin Accounting
Advisory Council with other financial leaders from public
accounting, industry, and academia.
Steve
is a frequent presenter at IIA Conferences and Chapter meetings,
as well as at MIS Training and Superstrategies Conferences
(last 3 years), and Director and Manager Symposiums, as well
as The IIA's General Audit Management and Value Added conferences.
Steve
is a Certified Internal Auditor and a Certified Public Accountant.
He graduated with highest honors from Southern Illinois University,
and was named the Outstanding Senior in the College of Business
and Administration in 1974. Steve started his career with
the Big 8 firm of Coopers & Lybrand.
