Gregory
A. Faucette began a two-year appointment as a Professional
Accounting Fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant of
the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in June 2002.
In this position, his responsibilities include consultation
with registrants on accounting and reporting matters, liaison
with professional accounting standard-setting bodies, and
participation in the development of rule proposals under Federal
Securities laws. His areas of emphasis are financial instruments,
including derivatives, and financial services industry matters.
Prior
to joining the Commission staff, he worked for Ernst &
Young LLP for ten years, most recently as a Senior Manager
in the firm’s Accounting Standards group in the National
Professional Practice in New York. In that role, he was responsible
for consulting with engagement teams and clients on accounting
and reporting issues, monitoring activities of standard-setting
bodies, drafting internal guidance and external publications,
and leading professional education courses. Before that, he
was located in North Carolina, serving clients primarily in
the insurance and other financial services industries in the
Southeast. Prior to joining Ernst & Young in 1992, he
was Postgraduate Intern on the staff of the Financial Accounting
Standards Board.
Greg
graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill in 1991, earning Bachelor of Science in Business
Administration with Highest Distinction and Master of Accounting
degrees. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants and a Fellow in the Life Management Institute
of the Life Office Management Association.
