Brian E. Szabo is Senior Vice President and General Auditor at SunTrust Banks, Inc. (SunTrust). Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, SunTrust is among the largest banking organizations in the United States. The company provides a wide range of financial services through more than 1,100 branches in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Tennessee, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Its primary businesses include traditional deposit and credit services as well as trust and investment services. Through various subsidiaries, SunTrust provides credit cards, mortgage banking, insurance brokerage, and investment services.

Prior to joining SunTrust, Brian was the chief audit executive at Crestar in Richmond, Virginia. He began his career at Crestar in 1990 and held a variety of finance positions prior to taking over the audit function in 1997. Brian currently serves on the Audit Advisory Group of the Bank Administration Institute. In addition, he serves on the Board of Research Advisors for The Institute of Internal Auditors Research Foundation. Prior to his financial services career, Brian worked for A. H. Robins (1986-1989) and PriceWaterhouseCoopers (1983-1986, Coopers & Lybrand).

Brian is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University (1983) where he majored in accounting and marketing.

Brian is a member of The Institute of Internal Auditors and The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
