Chantilly, Va.- MaritimeTV.com, an Internet TV channel
on the TVWorldwide.com network, announced today that it will provide live web
coverage of the Ship Operations Cooperative Program (SOCP) meeting to be held
June 12 at the Massachusetts State Maritime Academy in Buzzards Bay, Mass.
The meeting will feature a full spectrum of industry speakers addressing a range
of maritime issues and new innovative technologies and current discussions surrounding
the future of the fishing vessel and ferry industries. Speakers will be able
to communicate with colleagues in the industry who could not attend in person
via a live, interactive video webcast. Sponsorship opportunities are still available
for the webcast. The webcast will offer worldwide participation on-line and
be recorded on video in its entirety and compressed and archived at www.maritimeTV.com
through a link from the SOCP web site home page at www.socp.org.
“We’re very excited to again be offering the meeting proceedings on the web,”
commented SOCP co-chairman Lee Kincaid. “ In addition to allowing members who
could not attend the opportunity to participate, we will be offering the meeting
to the entire industry for interactive participation. We encourage sponsorship
participation from our membership to make this possible.”
“The interactive webcast provides a whole new perspective to an SOCP meeting
and we’re hopeful we can raise sufficient sponsorship funding to cover the costs
of the live event,” stated Dave Gardy, Chairman and CEO of TVWorldwide.com.
“In October and March we saw how the webcast worked to enhance communication
among maritime industry professionals, part of the SOCP mission. We look forward
to doing it again at Mass Maritime. This is part of our ongoing effort to make
our new MaritimeTV channel a community forum, driven by interactive video content
relating to the industry.”
Participants should have the free Real Player installed on their browser prior
to the event and should log on by 8:45 AM on June12. Technical questions can
be directed to 703-961-9250 before and during the event. The event will be archived
through a link on the SOCP home page to www.maritimetv.com for later viewing
by those who couldn’t attend live and also made available for syndication to
interested maritime sites nationwide.
