Keith Thurston is the Assistant to the Deputy Associate Administrator in the Office of Information Technology  - part of the Office of Governmentwide Policy at GSA.  His work calls for him to work with a number of Governmentwide initiatives and groups to help formulate technology guidance, direction and policy.  In that role - he has worked with Federal CIO Council since its inception in 1996 and focuses on the new policy issues as the technology evolves.  Federal IT Accessibility Initiative implementing Section 508 Governmentwide is the latest focus area for his office.  He is the Chair of the Joint FAR IT Committee - a body under the FAR Council that originates draft acquisition regulations for the FAR Council to consider.

Before joining GSA in 1990, he was with U.S. Treasury and IRS working in technology and network communications for 14 years.

He holds a Bachelors degree in Business and a Masters of Business Administration in Telecommunications.
