Mr. Salaets serves as Director of Government Relations for the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), a nonprofit industry association based in Washington, DC. In this capacity, he is responsible for managing a number of issues of distinct importance to the IT industry, including Federal procurement, e-Government, taxation and environmental policy. He also manages ITI's expanding portfolio on accessibility. Among other things, Mr. Salaets helps formulate and execute legislative and regulatory strategies on a wide array of issues, and is frequently called upon to represent the IT industry before domestic and international organizations.

Prior to his tenure at ITI, Mr. Salaets was a member of the professional staff of the U.S House of Representatives Committee on Government Operations, where he led investigations and managed public hearings on various issues, including aviation security, Federal property management and small disadvantaged business subcontracting.

In his "spare" time, Mr. Salaets presides over a music publishing company and enjoys playing guitar, surfing the Internet and spending time with his family.
