The 4th annual World Congress & Exposition on Disabilities (WCD) will continue its mission to provide something valuable for everyone in the disability community. The show floor will once again host a wide array of the latest products and services from more than 200 exhibitors representing associations, pharmaceutical, assistive technology, automotive, mobility, durable medical equipment, personal care, computer and many other industries.

Besides the Sports & Recreation Activity Center, the Employment Pavilion, the Assistive Technology Learning Center and the APA Poster Sessions, this year we have added many new features to the event. There will be an ATEN Assistive Technology Lab, a HALO Exposition (Housing and Assistive Lifestyle Opportunities) and numerous Roundtables facilitated by sponsoring organizations.

This year’s Educational program will feature over 120 multi-disciplinary sessions sponsored by the WCD Foundation for Education, Inc. and the EP Foundation for Education, Inc., 501 (C) 3 not-for-profit organizations, with the support of EP Magazine, the National Institutes of Health’s Office of Rare Diseases and other professional societies and organizations. Even though all of the seminars are designed to elicit interaction between the myriad of disciplines in attendance, they have been placed under Tracks to give focus and clarity to the sessions.

Therefore, seven tracks have been created: Adapted Physical Activity, Assistive Technology, Education, Employment, Family, Healthcare, and Rehab and Therapy. Each session is designed to educate many disciplines within the disability community, bringing together all those involved in improving the quality of life for children and adults with disabilities. During the intensive three-day educational experience, information and ideas on today’s most important issues will be exchanged between people with disabilities, their families and caregivers, physicians, direct support professionals, allied healthcare professionals, educators and adapted physical education specialists. Each of our attendees is presented with a unique opportunity to hear and meet with these truly outstanding experts in their respective fields. Use this opportunity to network with others in similar situations and come away from the WCD with invaluable information.

John Williams and Michael Paciello Discuss AT508
“There are an awful lot of industries, technology companies, who are very concerned about ensuring that their products are accessible to individuals with disabilities, have made incredible efforts to develop, design and re-design their software and their technologies to be accessible. So I think we’re definitely on the right road here in building that awareness.” - Mike Paciello, accessibility expert.
