The meeting will focus on “Short Sea Shipping Opportunities” and the development of a short sea shipping system that can assist in reducing growing freight congestion on our Nation's rail and highway systems. 

The meeting will also provide the opportunity for open discussions regarding promoting short sea shipping as a means to improve the performance of the national transportation system and to contribute to environmental sustainability.  Additionally, it will provide a forum for discussions highlighting obstacles and business opportunities related to short sea shipping.
