After the June 22 session, a reception will be held aboard the training ship STATE OF MAINE for meeting participants and their families where all will have an opportunity to hear from high-level government officials.

To introduce Puerto Rico's student community to the maritime industry and the vital role it serves, SOCP has coordinated a guided tour of the STATE OF MAINE where students will have an opportunity to talk with cadets about their experiences, and observe port operations during a port facility tour.

About SOCP
The purpose of the SOCP is to address and promote commercial operations through the identification, development, and application of new methods, procedures, and technologies. SOCP’s overall objective is to improve the competitiveness, productivity, efficiency, safety, and environmental responsiveness of U.S. vessel operations. All U.S. based vessel operators and organizations that support vessel operations are eligible to participate in the program. With the support of the Maritime Administration (MARAD), industry, labor, and Government are working together to address common challenges and identify new solutions for improvements in ship operations. This cooperative program allows members to participate in research which would not be economically feasible on an individual basis, or possibly even within a single area of the industry. Information about new technologies, systems, or procedures that would otherwise not exist is made available to all Cooperative members.
