Program Information

A draft agenda will be posted to the website as we approach the meeting dates. Please intermittently check the website for updates.

Similar to last year's PI Meeting, the following activities will be programmed that are designed to maximize the PI community's active participation and input.

  • Mini-Workshops: Again this year, we will incorporate approximately five to seven workshops in the program. The aim of the mini-workshops is to explore innovative new topics that can drive the future of the CPS research visions. They will be organized along the lines of a full CPS Workshop, but will be held over a 2-hour period, and will be coordinated and led by CPS PIs on topics that are of broad interest to the CPS Community. Thus, PIs will have the opportunity to propose workshop topics via a Call for Mini-Workshops. Please refer to the Call for Mini-Workshops details at https://cps-vo.org/group/cps-pimtg18/call-miniworkshops.
  • Women and Under-Represented Minorities Special Interest Networking Lunch: Due to its popularity last year, we are again programming a Women and Under-Represented Minorities Special Interest Networking Lunch. The event is designed to bring together CPS community members in order to enhance the participation of women and underrepresented minorities in our community. We will provide discussion points around inclusivity and the future of CPS at the various tables. There will be an opportunity at the end of the lunch for each table to share key aspects of the table’s discussion. The intention is to create an opportunity to make and reinforce valuable research contacts while enjoying lunch and good conversation. Space is limited. Register early at https://cps-vo.org/cpspimtg2018/special-interest-networking-lunch.
  • Invited Talks, Panel Presentations, and PI Lightning Talks: The program will again include keynote presentations, panel presentations, and PI Lightning talks. Individual invitations to give a keynote presentation, serve on a panel, or present a lightning talk will be sent by an NSF program director. The PI Lightning sessions provide an opportunity for many PIs to present their research in 90 second rounds. PIs with project performance start dates of 2016 and 2017 will serve as the pool of participants for this year's lightning talks. If you are invited to give a keynote, lightning talk, or panel presentation, you will be sent guidance information on how and when to submit your talk materials.
  • Poster Session: As in previous years, each PI of an active project with a unique award number should plan to present a poster at the poster session. The PI should submit a publishable poster, project abstract and optionally a project video. PIs of recently expired projects or projects soon expiring should have more to report. Detailed poster guidance including submission dates, instructions, and the poster template can be found at: https://cps-vo.org/group/cps-pimtg18/poster-session.
  • Demonstration Session: We are placing additional emphasis on demonstrations this year. Demonstrations should showcase the research so that non-CPS experts also may appreciate and understand its significance in the real world. We hope to use the demonstration session as a starting point for this R&D showcase. We strongly encourage PIs to participate, particuarly those with projects that are in their third or fourth year. Please note space is limited for demonstrations. Register early at: https://cps-vo.org/cps-pimtg18/submit-demo.
