During his National League of Cities presidency, Mayor Anthony Williams of Washington, DC has stressed the need for an innovative resource tool to promote information sharing and collaboration about cities and city issues. The result is the National City Network which is intended to serve city leaders, public officials, citizens, and the media. The Network will be accessible via the Internet and/or cable television.
The Multi-City Summit on Saturday, November 19, will be a demonstration of the Network. The Summit discussion will focus on dealing with natural disasters. City leaders from five regions of the country will share their "lessons learned" from their experiences preparing for and responding to hurricanes, floods, and evacuations. Participants include Washington, DC and cities from Louisiana, Texas, Florida, and North Dakota.
