The National Housing Conference invites you to join us to examine HUD's proposed rule on affirmatively furthering fair housing. The long-anticipated rule provides guidance to HUD funding recipients on their obligation to reduce segregation and promote integrated communities under the Fair Housing Act. The agenda includes a presentation from Patrick Pontius, Special Policy Advisor to HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan, expert perspectives on the rule, and an opportunity for participants to discuss possible reactions to the proposed rule.

We expect a diverse group of participants representing public agencies, other HUD grantees, fair housing advocates, for-profit and nonprofit housing developers, representatives of low-income renters, advocates for women and communities of color, and many other housing stakeholders. As part of this meeting we will discuss reactions to the rule, identify areas both of common interest and potential disagreement, and explore options for formal comments on the rule. Many of you have been deeply engaged in this issue and we look forward to your participation in what is sure to be a frank and fruitful discussion.
