FOLLOW-UP ON ELECTRONIC PRESCRIBING
The State Alliance members will continue their discussions from their May 2008 meeting on ways that state policymakers can help facilitate electronic prescribing. A representative from DEA will present the proposed rule issued in June to allow electronic prescribing of controlled substances. A CMS representative will share information on current and future activities to support electronic prescribing in Medicare. The Alliance will provide NGA staff guidance on how the organization should implement the statement adopted in May by the State Alliance.

PRESENTATION OF THE PUBLIC PROGRAMS IMPLEMENTATION TASKFORCE RECOMMENDATIONS
The Public Programs Implementation Taskforce representative will provide an update on the Taskforce's deliberations and present recommendations that can help states align government e-health activities and their intersection with industry activities.

PRESENTATION OF THE PRIVACY AND SECURITY TASKFORCE RECOMMENDATIONS
The Privacy and Security Taskforce representative will provide an update on the Taskforce's deliberations and present recommendations on ways states can align their privacy laws and policies, while preserving the balance between consumer protections and enabling appropriate interstate electronic health information exchange.

PRESENTATION OF FINANCING, ACCOUNTABILITY AND OVERSIGHT MODELS TO SUSTAIN ELECTRONIC HEALTH INFORMATION EXCHANGE
The University of Massachusetts Medical School Center for Health Policy and Research was commissioned by the State Alliance and NGA to examine financing, accountability, and oversight models to sustain electronic health information exchange. The project team will present their findings for discussion by the State Alliance, including next steps for moving the issue forward.
