Last year, our the First Annual U.S. Maritime Industry National Town Meeting Webcast on Marine Highways, resulted in national coverage in USA Today, and garnered the attention the industry needed to get new legislation passed to help the Marine Highways Initiative. In this presidential election year, emphasis is again on new legislation and programs to support the Marine Highways concept. Most Recently, the U.S. Transportation Deputy Secretary announced a new nationwide plan to reduce traffic on congested roadways by creating new Marine Highways.
