The Changing Healthcare System and What It Means for HPOG
Objectives:
Grantees will learn about what is happening in the healthcare system and have
a better understanding of the changing delivery systems and what it means for
the workforce (i.e. changes in labor market information). In addition, grantees
will be able to discuss what these changes mean for them, and whether or not
it resonates with what they have been hearing.

Break Out Session: Career Pathways - Connecting Adult Basic Education Through Employment
Objectives:
Grantees will obtain information on the benefits of implementing effective
career pathway models at the state, local, and grantee levels. This session
will cover the process and steps to implementing career pathways that start
with ABE and purposefully connect to higher wages. Grantees will hear from
other HPOG programs to find out what implementing effective career
pathways looks like in practice to include assessment, planning, and documentation. Grantees will walk away with concrete tools to use in career
pathway planning including the OFA Career Pathways Catalog of Toolkits. |

Learning Cohort Results: Behavioral Economics and Two-Generation Approaches
Objectives:
Grantees will be provided an overview of the two HPOG learning cohort topics - Two-
Gen Approaches and Behavioral Economics. Grantees will hear about the
experiences of fellow HPOG programs that took part in the eight-week learning
cohort to include key take-aways and actions steps.

Building Financial Capability for HPOG Participants
Objectives:
Grantees will learn about the importance of building financial capability,
asset-building strategies and tools available for program use. In addition,

Introduction to the Trauma Informed Approach
Objectives:
Grantees will learn about trauma, its impact, and strategies for implementing
a trauma informed approach. Grantees will also learn about the ACE
Study. Finally, grantees will be able to name the four basic principles of
providing trauma informed care, identify the three stages of trauma recovery,
and the importance of taking care of self.

Recruitment Strategies – Target Population Sources and Creating Access for Non-Traditional Students
Objectives:
Grantees will learn about creating Access for Non-Traditional Students (Adult Basic
needs) and exploring how to reach those who need it most (keeping random
assignment in mind). Specific sources for the target population will include ABE,
Head Start and TANF. Grantees will also learn about different tools that can be used
to target materials with a certain message, as well as who they can partner with to
reach those hardest to serve.
