Newport News Shipbuilding will christen the Virginia-Class Submarine MINNESOTA (SSN 783) on 27 October, 2012, at
1000 hours, in Newport News, VA.

A time-honored tradition, the Ship's Sponsor, Mrs. Ellen Roughead will smash the traditional bottle of sparkling wine across the ship officially naming her MINNESOTA!
