On August 30, 2013, from 1:00-2:30 pm EST, BroadbandUS.TV will present the third program in its special series on the $7 billion federal initiative to build an interoperable national wireless network for public-safety agencies. In this program, hosts Jim Baller and Marty Stern and their guests will focus on infrastructure sharing with FirstNet. They will explore how entities that have excess capacity on their advanced communications networks, including recent recipients of federal stimulus funds, can make it available to FirstNet, thereby reducing FirstNet's construction burdens and costs while enhancing their own revenues and sustainability. They will also discuss the pros and cons of FirstNet making its own excess capacity available for general use in unserved or underserved areas, thereby offsetting a portion of its costs while accelerating the availability of broadband in these areas.
