Release
This
holiday event was on December 14 at 5 PM EST. It was a
simulwebcast provided by www.tvworldwide.com and www.christmas.com.
The Web cast featured Santa reading holiday stories and
interacting with participants around the world by chat,
e-mail and phone. Those with disabilities were able to
join in the fun thanks to the "Webcaptingtm"
streaming video, a process developed in concert with TVWorldwide.com's
AbleTV.net channel,
the first global Internet television channel for the disabled.
The web cast also utilized the 360-degree lens and camera
technology of the BeHere Corporation, called iVideo. With
iVideo, Santa fans are able to take control of the entire
360-degree scene and can watch Santa interact with the
studio audience from TVWorldwide.com's studio.
The
web cast holds a special interest for Christmas.com. "At
Christmas.com, we are always interested in providing a
personal Christmas experience. Unfortunately, too often
the community of people with disabilities is overlooked.
This Santa web cast with captioning gives us an opportunity
to embrace our visitors with disabilities and make them
aware that we cherish their time spent with us at Christmas.com."
