- Presentation by Mr. Mike Paciello. According to Mike Paciello, technology can tear down the artificial barriers of accessibility that are presented in the technology that we see today. He says there is no problem involving accessibility to the web that can’t be solved with technology and that barriers actually act as a stimulus to innovation. Mike also described a brief history of computerized assistive technology.

keynote speaker Mike Paciello, a renowned expert in web accessibility along with
other Macromedia experts in the field who addressed the latest issues regarding
federal agency requirements under Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, which
requires compliance by June 25, 2001. This free webcast featured AbleTV’s live
captioned video streaming or “webcaptingsm” process to assist on-line participants with disabilities and
serve AbleTV’s growing audience. This webcast was sponsored by Macromedia and
the syndicated national radio show “On line Tonight” with David Lawrence.
