The Ship Operations Cooperative Program (SOCP) invites all maritime industry representatives to attend and participate in the SOCP's March 5-6, 2003, meeting in San Diego, CA.

View SOCP at its public meeting at the Point Loma Navy Submarine Base in San Diego, CA. On March 5, 2003 the meeting will open with welcoming remarks from the MSC Commander of the Pacific Fleet. Hear a senior level representative from the newly formed Department of Homeland Security provide insight into this critical department’s evolution and future direction. The agenda will also include discussion panels on Best Security Practices for Ships in U.S. Ports and Innovative Maritime Technologies. The day will culminate with a tour of the NASSCO ship yard and a dinner presentation from Captain William Schubert, Maritime Administrator, who will discuss the affect on the Maritime Administration/DOT’s mission as a result of USCG and TSA transferring to the Department of Homeland Security and the future role MARAD will play in maritime security.

On March 6, 2003 several reports will be presented on industry issues and activities, along with a technology presentation. The invited luncheon speaker from the Port of San Diego, CA, will provide an overview of port activities and review steps that are being implemented to enhance security. Full agenda and detailed information regarding logistics and no-fee registration can be viewed at www.socp.org.
