Purpose: To develop a series of Northern Virginia enterprise-sponsored webcasts to address the issue of Internet Ethics for the benefit of students in the Fairfax County Public School System. Based on the Mission of FCPS…..

The mission of Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is to educate all students to meet high academic standards and to prepare all students for responsible citizenship in the 21st Century.

The intent of this endeavor is to use the Internet itself to create an interactive forum for discussion of important issues surrounding Internet ethics that can be archived for continual review. The series of webcasts would feature lectures, discussions, teachings and interviews involving some of the pre-eminent experts in the field from Northern Virginia, in addition to selected industry and government leaders interested in creating awareness among students concerning the importance of Cyber Ethics, especially in the environment we find ourselves in since September 11. This initiative would insure that the web site infrastructure, content management and multi-media configuration would offer adequate flexibility from the beginning to continually deploy the latest advances in community-based, live and archived interactive streaming media applications to make this on-line "Cyber Ethics Knowledge Archive" a truly unique and dynamic learning experience.

TVWorldwide.com announced that it was again collaborating with Booz Allen Hamilton and Base Technologies, Inc to webcast the second in series of on-line interactive discussion forums for Fairfax County Public School students, dedicated to the issue of CyberEthics. This second pilot webcast, intended for middle school students, is called "CyberEthics 101" and is scheduled for today, June 7, 2002, 10:30 AM EDT, live from TVWorldwide.com studios in Chantilly, Va. This event has again attracted a panel of government and business leaders to guide the "town meeting" style event in addressing subject matter areas that will form the basis for a CyberEthics curriculum in future webcasts. Students, teachers, parents and administrators will participate interactively live and on-line through chat and e-mail during the 60-90 minute forum.

Panelists for the "CyberEthics 101" pilot webcast include:
Dr. Daniel Domenech, Superintendent, Fairfax County Public Schools
Mr. Stu Weinstein, Booz Allen & Hamilton
Ms. Kathy Smith, Fairfax County School Board, Sully District
Mr. Gary Nakamoto, CEO, Base Technologies, Inc.
Mr. Ken Santucci, Amprod, Inc. Noted Tech Commentator

"We're excited about the prospect of offering this second pilot webcast on the hot button issue of CyberEthics, especially after the huge positive response we got to the first pilot webcast for high school students in March, " stated Dave Gardy, CEO of TVWorldwide.com. "Although this is intended as a forum for Fairfax County Students, its availability on the web has attracted inquiries nationally and we're again provisioning our servers for viewers from around the country."

"We're pleased to have the support of Fairfax County's business community in helping us to address the important issue of CyberEthics with our students," commented Courtney Bulger, Co-Chair of the Fairfax County Public School Strategic Technology Planning Council (STPC).

The "CyberEthics 101" webcast will be available live and archived for later viewing at www.tvworldwide.com, and special URL for access by the students. Participants should have the free Real Player installed prior to the event and should log on by 10:15 AM EST on June 7th. Questions can be directed to 703-961-9250, ext 223 before and during the event.
